Autumn Unwind: Yin Yoga for Fall
As the warmth & spontaneity of Summer concludes & flows into the cool nights & bright days of Autumn, we enter a more internal & reflective time.  This is the shift from the hot & busy Yang energy of Summer towards the more cool and calm Yin energy.  As Autumn arrives, it carries an invitation to slow down and surrender.
Honor this seasonal transition through Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga is a slow and still expression of yoga, in which poses are held for three to five minutes. In the meditative stillness of the pose, tight networks of fascia and connective tissue are released and healthy energetic circulation through the meridian system is restored.
Balancing both theory and practice, this Yin workshop is informed by the five-element theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In Autumn, we can focus on the energies of Earth & Metal and their associated energetic meridians through the hips and shoulders. Learn the basic principles of Yin and how these elements influence our bodies, minds & emotions. Then enjoy a Yin Yoga practice to experience its deep benefits.
This educational workshop will give you deeper insight into the wisdom of Yin and help you find balance in our always-changing world though stillness and inner-awareness.

Descending into Deep Rest: Restorative Yoga Immersion
Restorative yoga is a profound experience of relaxation. At the surface of the pose, there's a lack of activity. Each shape is generously supported with props and held without effort for an extended time. Our focus is not even on stretching, but on “opening” the body by releasing tension into spacious comfort. Yet, as the practitioner descends into a deep restful state, their physical tensions also dissolve with time & awareness. The blissful comfort of the pose becomes a catalyst for a transformational process.

Restorative yoga facilitates the recalibration of our nervous systems. It shifts us from a dull but constant state of stress (our sympathetic or fight/flight/freeze response), towards a more healing & integrative state (our parasympathetic or rest & digest response). The heart-rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate and physical tensions relax and our immune systems and digestive processes improve. This practice is practically helpful to manage anxiety and daily stress.

Learn about the magic of Restorative Yoga. This educational workshop will explore the theory and practice of Restorative, giving you many tools to develop a home practice that will support your body, mind and energy. Learn about the nervous system and how to down-regulate to release stress. Eva will share lots of insight on improvising with whatever props you may have and building a the most sweet and supportive poses.

Yoga Tools for Managing Diabetes

According to the International Diabetes Federation, Diabetes Atlas, in 2017 there were 471 million people worldwide with Diabetes, 5 million of them died from Diabetes complications, and they estimate the actual figures are double these numbers.  By 2045, it is estimated that there will be 693 million people with Diabetes.  By comparison, as of July 2020, there were 20 million COVID-19 cases and 733,000 deaths.  Diabetes is officially a global pandemic and those who have diabetes have been designated by the CDC as being at high risk for serious COVID-19 illness.  Recent research published in the Journal of Alternative and Complimentary Medicine (Meditation and Yoga Practices as Potential Adjunctive Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 Infection and COVID-19: A Brief Overview of Key Subjects, Vol. 26, No. 7, 2020 pp. 547-556) has stated, “there is evidence of stress and inflammation modulation, and also preliminary evidence for possible forms of immune system enhancement accompanying the practice of certain forms of meditation, yoga, pranayama, along with potential implications for counteracting some forms of infectious challenges.”
Across much of the world, yoga has become a popular way to get and stay physically fit, but it has significantly more potential, in that it can enhance your endocrine and immune system.  The practice of yoga is a science of awareness that supports an integration of the mind-body-spirit/heart that makes available pathways that facilitate deep healing.  Being more specific to the focus of this class, the physiological and psychological effects of diabetes can be ameliorated by practicing certain yogic techniques, which harmonize the endocrine system by lowering the glycemic level and activating key glands (Pituitary, Pancreas, Thyroid, Liver, and Adrenals).
While western medicine provides diabetics with insulin, medicines, and tools for monitoring and managing blood sugar levels, yoga powerfully augments these by providing a comprehensive approach to health and healing which conventional medicine does not.  Yoga provides diabetics with tools to manage emotional and behavioral fluctuations, fatigue, discouragement from daily maintenance of a chronic condition, and fluctuating glycemic levels.
This class will help you explore the different layers of your being (five Koshas) to better understand how you can access information about where you have opportunities to heal.   My teachers Joseph and Lilian Le Page explain that, “The human being can be compared to a precious gem with many facets, and the Yoga process involves bringing awareness, purification and integration to the various facets, or levels of our being, on a journey of discovery from physical to subtle.”
Walk away with a toolbox of yogic techniques which will enhance your ability to manage your diabetes more effectively while simultaneously supporting your immune system, potentially reducing the risk of COVID-19.   Let’s explore together as we learn how yoga asana, somatic movement, breath practices, visualizations, and meditation stimulate and balance different glands in the endocrine system and free up your energy to flow for healing.
All levels welcome.  Please have the following available for the practice:  blanket, block, and strap (substitute towel or belt).

Move into Stillness - A Restorative and Gentle Slow Flow with Bricanei Dyer and Paula Temple
Embrace the practice of slowing down and moving into deep relaxation. During this workshop, participants will be guided through a series of asanas intended to reduce stress and release deep layers of tension throughout the body. The asanas practiced during this workshop will create space in the physical body, relieve stress in the mental body and promote inner peace and tranquility in the spiritual body.
This workshop will take students on an energetic journey beginning with a series of restorative asanas and moving into a breath centered mindful slow flow with hands on adjustments. Nerve gliding will also be infused into this practice. Nerve gliding gently stretches the nerves: keeping them mobile in the surrounding sheath and infusing them with ample blood supply. This gentle gliding movement is vital to both managing pain and supporting the general health of the nervous system. This practice will prepare students to move into stillness for a 10 minute crystal bowl sound bath Savasana.

Music in Yoga

Whether you are a veteran yoga teacher or you are new to the practice.  Music in yoga is evolving.  The first sound (frequency and vibration)used in yoga that we associate with is OM,  chanting or even song bowls/gongs. The evolution of yoga has shown that a lot of modern day yogis use modern day music ( modern day vibrations, sounds and frequencies) to teach their classes.  This is how we (us teachers and practitioners) interpret, how we practice yoga.
The intention behind how we use the vibrating frequency can make or break a yoga experience.
The reason we teach isn’t because we know how to create dope flows.  We teach because we have something to share, and resonate with people who practice yoga.  We all have different teaching styles and techniques, let this guide help you in your ever evolving practice in your Teaching practice.

Yamas and Niyamas: The Yogic Path Toward Wholeness and Authenticity

Yamas and Niyamas: The Yogic Path Toward Wholeness and Authenticity

Most of us first experience yoga as the physical practice of postures, called asana.  But there’s so much more to discover!  In fact, yoga asana is just one of the eight limbs of yoga outlined in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.  As a whole, the eight limbs of yoga are a system that strengthens the understanding of our practice, our lives, and our world. This workshop takes a deep dive into a topic usually reserved for intensive study programs and teacher trainings. The first two limbs of yoga, the yamas and niyamas, are a set of principles that act as a lens for viewing our own humanity and our interactions with the world around us with greater clarity and compassion. If you feel called to yoga as part of your path toward wholeness and authenticity, this class is for you.  Join us for an open-minded exploration and discussion of the yamas and niyamas to bring greater depth of awareness to your practice and to your life off the mat.
